Welcome to the Velvet Room! We figured it was high time to create a convenient place for players to share character/contact info and plot with one another.

Feel free to introduce yourselves! Share info about your characters, long term and short term goals, any ideas you may have for the future, and all that good stuff. We tried to provide a template that's flexible enough for players of both OU and AU characters and from various Persona games, but feel free to add additional info as needed.

I've watched the main story of Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax as well as episode Adachi and am currently working my way through Tactica (near the end of Kingdom 3). Know big spoilers about P2 as well. CHARACTER

Name: Goro Akechi (P4 AU);

Canon Point/AU: This version of Akechi is taken from early August under very AU circumstances. The Phantom Thieves just finished changing Wakaba Isshiki's heart.
Cliffnotes: Older version of Akechi from my ongoing fic The Crow Cries at Midnight.

Tl;dr: When he was 12, Akechi met Kanji Tatsumi, who noticed the abuse and neglect he suffered in his then current foster home, reached out a helping hand, and called in the abuse. Akechi was taken in by the Dojimas a few weeks before Persona 4 and began to open up to others little by little. Yu Narukami then entered the picture, kickstarting a rocky rivalry while Akechi and Kanji pursued the truth regarding the murders and the Midnight Channel until eventually the two of them became allies and later members of the Invesstigation Team.

Akechi eventually opened his heart to others and found a family in Inaba. He went through AU versions of the Arena games and Dancing, making connections with the Shadow Operatives (particularly Ken) and come P5, he's the protege of Naoto Shirogane, ally of the Shadow Ops, and has been sent to Tokyo as an undercover agent pursuing a mysterious culprit who has been causing what the media refers to as "cognitive anomalies" (actualizations).

Soon after, he got roped into Phantom Thief tomfoolery and ended up as their semi-reluctant leader and mentor, though the burden of leadership is at least shared with Ren Amamiya, whom he met the day Ren arrived in Tokyo and promised to overturn his conviction. The two hit it off and by his current pull point, they are happily dating. ...And now Akechi's in the DR.

Overall, he's a happier, healthier Akechi but still has some lingering baggage and trauma and a very complicated relationship with Loki to a point where he actively avoids using that Persona. He's under a lot of pressure due to his responsibilities and desire to be a model leader like Yu was. He's also inherited some of Yu's trollish humor and is actually decent at cooking.

Looking For: Honestly, open to a lot of different kinds of CR! Friendships, rivalries, found family, etc. Whatever comes naturally. He's my most active character by far, and he tends to poke around a lot.

Since Ren arrived, he's got someone to keep him from overworking himself, but he still has a habit of shooting for the sun and trying to tackle a lot of problems and tasks at a given time. He's also part of the "Akechi Alliance", which he may start advertising again soon now that there are new Akechis to account for.

Maybe when Pancake's back to his normal self.

Right now, he's very interested in previous Persona-related incidents (e.g. the Dark Hour and Tartarus) and also wishes to help figure out how to deal with actualization in cases such as Sparrow (

pheasantboy).

CHARACTER

Name: Goro Akechi (P4 AU);

Canon Point/AU: May 1st, having already obtained the power to enter the TV world from the gas station attendant and having met Teddie already.

Cliffnotes: Tween Akechi whose most recent abusive foster home was in Inaba, now living with the Dojima family after a chance encounter with Kanji Tatsumi altered the course of his life. You can find the fic here, though he's pulled from later in the story.

At this point, he's lived with the Dojimas for about a month, accepted Kanji as his best friend, has established a friendly rapport with Marie, is close to accepting Nanako as his little sister, and has... complicated feelings about Yu Narukami that leave him very uneasy. Chie and Yukiko are friendly enough, and Yosuke annoys him. He's a big, big fan of Naoto Shirogane but has yet to meet her, finds Teddie... strange, and Dojima has earned his trust and respect, but he's not quite ready to call him his dad.

This Akechi is deeply invested in solving the mysteries of Inaba's supernatural phenomena, from the Midnight Channel to Marie's past and the murders and all that jazz. He's taken vigorous notes, has photographic evidence, and has awakened his Persona earlier than in the actual fic thanks to a little help from Devilkira and Morgana.

Right now, he's living in the Dojima house... which has effectively become a home for the DR's resident children, under the care of his older self and their Ren (

unfoggedlotus). He is the one responsible for the big conspiracy board out in the middle of the Velvet Room and is very proud of his work.

Looking For: This little guy is always in need of friends and older role models, as he's still only just starting to open up to others. With that being said, he'd love more smart people to talk nerdy things with, would enjoy people he can go to the Metaverse (or TV world) with to hone his strength, and is very fascinated by the Dark Hour in Iwatodai and Mikage-cho having actual demons in it.

He's very much overwhelmed with feelings since Mamakechi showed up and may be kinda flaily about that.

Name: "Kasumi" Yoshizawa

Canon Point/AU: August 2nd, after the Phantom Thieves change Wakaba Isshiki's heart.

Cliffnotes: This Sumi is from the same AU as my two Goros. Like in canon, she went to Maruki for counseling in the wake of her sister's death and got actualized, but kept visiting Maruki after due to feeling so grateful for how much he helped her. Along the way, Maruki had a lapse in judgment and eventually let slip his woes regarding Shido and his conspiracy. Sumi, despite being his client and a teenager, was desperate to do anything to help the man who made her feel happy again after what felt like an inescapable low point.

Maruki, while hesitant due to the power dynamics at play as well as the dangers of the Metaverse, eventually caved after some coaxing from Yaldabaoth and took Sumi to Mementos so that she could awaken to her Persona. Unfortunately, this required putting her in a dangerous situation. Though Sumi did awaken to Cendrillon, Maruki saw the horror in her eyes at being attacked by Shadows and felt an immense guilt, so he actualized her again so that she remembered her awakening as something more pleasant and more akin to a shojo fantasy.

From that point on, Sumi became Maruki's ally, helping him test the hypothesis in Wakaba's stolen research so that he could gain a greater understanding of the Metaverse under Shido's nose. In the process, she took on a vigilante role, using Mementos to help solve local problems even before the Phantom Thieves hit the scene. She opened a website called "The Midnight Maiden," where people could submit wishes for her to grant...

And then Goro Akechi arrived on the scene, and soon after, the Phantom Thieves. Overall, Sumi has no problem with the Thieves and even appreciates the good they've done (e.g. stopping Kamoshida), but due to her loyalties to Maruki, she finds herself conflicted and often spies on them in the Metaverse (even though Akechi has already got her pegged as a Persona user and even though she accidentally dragged Yusuke into the Metaverse one time while tailing the Thieves and had to drop him at a safe room for them to deal with.

Looking For: Friends, rivals, people to challenge her perceptions of things, and more! She's still a new-ish muse, but the more I thread her, the more I can adjust to her. xD

Familiarity With the Games: Played vanilla P5, vanilla and Golden P4, halfway through a P3P run. Have watched P5 Royal and P3 FES LPs (though when it comes to P3, it's been years; I didn't click with the game until I saw FemC content). Vaguely familiar with P1 and P2 via RP osmosis. (Don't worry about spoiler-dodging, honestly; they're so old at this point that it's fine.) As for spinoff games, I know Arena/Ultimax and the rough shape of the PQs, but not the Dancing games as much.

veneerational, breaking the bird theme with Aspen) is still doing his revenge thing, so they have a very codependent relationship. More info here.
Looking For: Confront her with the fact that her empathy isn't quite as burnt out as she's long thought! Help her plot bloody vengeance against her fiance and, in the longer term, against the conspiracy! (Aspen's canon point is shortly before the Medjed fuckery kicks off, so Haru has been informed that her father is in the conspiracy's sights... and plans to remove him from the equation before they can make a martyr of him.) Do plant nerdery and help her find weird Metaverse plants!

Canon Point/AU: Relative to the greater Persona timeline, he's a couple years past the normal P5 time frame; the human would-be PTs are (or ought to be) in college. Within the messy and overlapping fic continuity timeline, Akira's just had his first meeting with Hifumi, and gotten a phone. That is totally not his first phone ever. Definitely.
Cliffnotes: Akira but he's an ageless fae entity. Making connections between things is his Thing. (He had to change his name to get it, but considers it entirely worthwhile. His previous Thing precluded making connections by necessity and he hated it.) Blood brothers with the local Akechi variant, so the amount of dating and/or pining might baffle him slightly. XD Giving him your full name is Not Recommended.
Looking For: ...Making connections is his Thing, and he's going to be bereft f his usual ones. Also trying to figure out what y'all are talking about. XD

Cliffnotes: Syn cliff notes: Panfandom RP where characters were plucked from their home worlds by avatars of the Major Arcana and sent to other worlds to fix shit (or, sometimes, break shit further). Also known as Skill Trees: The Game.
Shinji's specific cliff notes: Showed up, almost immediately yeeted himself into a dungeon, got a Persona evolution out of finally addressing some of his baggage, proceeded to end up immortal, still has no idea what to do with that, let himself be a test subject for game-mechanic healing so he's no longer suppressant-sick, pulled Koromaru in for company, Koromaru also got in on the immortality thing because he's a loyal little shit. Neither his Persona, its Arcana nor his summoning method are what you'd expect!
Looking For: People he can Team Mom at, for all he'll claim he doesn't want to. Syn CR included Rise and Haru (not my Haru), so he has a rough idea of what came after Iwatodai Persona-bullshit-wise. He also knows SEES' field leader was sometimes some blue-haired guy. If all else fails, Koromaru is a great unifying factor.

Canon Point/AU: A ShuAke roleswap AU wherein Ren is the Black Mask. Within the AU, the canon point is mid-November, before 11/20.
Cliffnotes: Basically, his parents dropped him off at an orphanage when he was a kid because they didn't want him. A series of unfortunate events(TM) found him working for Shido against his will while trying desperately to find a way out of that situation. It's against that backdrop that his Akechi bursts onto the scene, dazzling him but also really complicating things. For a slightly longer (though still overly simplified) summary of his AU, you can look here.
Looking For: I always enjoy it when people successfully make friends with him, because he's so confused by it. In particular I'd love for him to make friends with some Phantom Thieves, because he'd have guilty and conflicted feelings about that. People who can calm him down and people who enable his wild behavior are equally welcome. I also think it's a lot of fun when he decides he hates people!

Have seen walkthroughs of Persona 1 (PSP), both Persona 2 games and PQ1. Haven’t had a chance to sit down to watch walkthroughs of PQ2 and P4 Dancing yet.

Canon Point/AU: She’s from an AU where Ren went to Kosei instead of Shujin, and she takes Ann’s place as Phantom Thief. Her current canon point is right before they give Futaba the calling card to change her heart.

Shiho suffered under Kamoshida’s abuse, met Ren, Yusuke, and Hifumi the day after a public volleyball game because Mishima told her they could help with Kamoshida. She speaks with them, but days later, Ann attempts to take her own life. After going with her to the hospital, she comes back to head into Kamoshida’s palace, where she awakened to her persona. She has been a member of the Phantom Thieves since.

Looking For: Friendships mostly. Not focused on romance for now, but that can easily change. I don’t have any real goals with her other than having fun with her just yet.

Canon Point/AU: He’s from an AU where when persona users awaken, they transform into monsters/youkai, and in this case, Ren became a vampire. His canon point is post-Royal true ending

Cliffnotes: Ren’s AU post here, though it might get updated in the future.

It starts out the same until the awakening moment. When Ren tried to intervene with Shadow Kamoshida beating Ryuji up, he got stabbed and bled to death. While he was dying, Arsene talked to him and then awakened to his persona as he became reborn as a vampire. It mostly goes the same from there aside from the Phantom Thieves being monsters/youkai. Maruki even turning into some kind of Djinn (kind of like a genie except not quite the same.), though that one didn’t last.

Looking For: Friendships since he’s already taken. Though rivalries are good too. Also do vampire stuff with him.

Canon Point/AU: Post game. Post several games. Kotone remembers several versions of her journey over time, where she got a little better at time management, a little closer to her social links, and a little better at fighting in Tartarus each time. Eventually, she got it just right... and then she woke up here.

Cliffnotes: Mostly your standard canon FEMC, except this one is NG++. She has time looped through her life several times to get everything perfect, and died at peace with her choices and with the things she accomplished.

Looking For: Friends to help her deal with her confusion about being Here. Being alive, apparently, not that she will openly share that she's supposed to be a giant doorknocker. Friends to remind her why she still wants to live, that she can be alive and rest, that there is more to her and to her life than her duties and the grind and her responsibility to humanity. She spent too long focused on Saving Everyone else, she forgot how to Save Herself
